Study Summary

This pilot phase II trial studies how well nelfinavir mesylate works in treating patients with kaposi sarcoma. Nelfinavir mesylate may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth.

Primary Outcome

The binomial proportion and its exact 95% confidence interval will be used to estimate the overall response rate in the study. Overall response is defined as Complete response or partial response. Response and progression will be evaluated in this study using the AIDS Clinical Trials Groups (ACTG) response criteria for Kaposi sarcoma. Complete response (CR) is defined as the absence of any detectable residual disease, including tumor-associated edema, persisting for at least 4 weeks. Partial re
